P&G Account Manager vs. IBM Consulting by Degrees
Hi guys!
My friend just got offers from P&G and IBM.
With P&G, he'd be working as an account executive, which means basically a sales position where he'd work with large retailers and be responsible for a particular product/category. The career path & salary ramp-up fairly quickly because its sales.
With IBM, he has been offered to join the firm's Consulting by Degree (CBD) program, where over a 2-year period he'd get a mix of training and exposure to a range of industries. Projects tend to be a bit more technology focused than strategy/ops consulting.
Both companies are known to be fairly bureaucratic. Comp at both is pretty much the same (slight edge to P&G). Career advancement slightly better at P&G. Training better at IBM.
I'm suggesting more P&G, as I feel the brand power of P&G is quite strong. (not that IBM isn't, it just that IBM tends to have its up and downs).
He wants to know what would be best for learning and culture? Also, he plans to do an MBA in 4 years or so.
Would love to hear WSO's thoughts! :)
