Planning ahead for an internship

I am going to be a junior this fall at the university of nebraska and I am majoring in finance. Next summer I have a goal of finding an internship in investment banking. Currently I have a 3.36 GPA which I understand is not great, but how important are other factors like the fact that I am the treasurer for my fraternity. Also what is the best resource to learn about potential internship possibilities since obviously nebraska is not a top tier business school. Any help or recommendations or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

That is a low GPA at a non target school.... You should bump your GPA up significantly and contact alumni in the business, but there probably aren't that many. Look for regional middle market banks. There is a thread on these forums with a lot of them. Good luck.

by looking for a regional firm(once I find the list) would it say on their website about internship programs or would I have to call them to figure it out? Also I am not trying to limit myself to just investment banking, I am also interested in Mergers and Acquisitions as well. Is there a high probability given my GPA which will rise to above a 3.4 after this summer and fall that I should be able to obtain a regional internship next summer?

can anyone recommend any banks to look into located in the midwest in cities such as Chicago, Denver, or Kansas City to name just a few.
