Portuguese Investment Bankers in BB/EB??

Hey guys, new monkey from Portugal here!

I saw in the FT the other day that Santander has just tapped a Portuguese HSBC exec to run operations in Europe. I checked out his LinkedIn profile, and saw that he began his banking career as an analyst at Morgan Stanley. As a fellow Portuguese, and a student trying to break into Investment Banking, I am very curious to know what the stats for Portuguese in IB are like, in questions such as:

-Which financial centers and banks are they working at; -How many make it to Senior positions; -Which schools did they attended; -Are there more Portuguese monkeys out there, or am I a rare breed?!?!

Portugal is small, and from my research there's no international EB/BB presence in the country. We do have a huge diaspora though, so I'm really hopeful of getting some interesting input on this thread. The only other big Portuguese I've heard in Int'l banking is Antonio Horta-Osorio, CEO of Lloyd's Bank (again, a commercial bank, not really IB). If I studied in Portugal I might have a better picture based on my network and alumni job placements, but alas, I'm in the US.

Se e Portugues e estiver a ler isto, gostaria imenso de travar contacto consigo e de ouvir a sua historia, bem como quaisquer conselhos que puder dispensar. Muito Obrigado.
