Post Grad Job Advice
Curious to collect some insight/advice on my situation. Graduated May 2023 and have been recruiting for IB analyst roles for the past year. Have had interviews/superdays every month since, but not selected for one of the limited spots yet. I have past internship experience in MM PE, and sophomore year at a start-up. At this point I am conflicted if I should take a non-IB role in the interim and continue recruiting for lateral opportunities. Mentally this process has been grueling to say the least, but the number of interviews I have had has kept me going. I am prepping to take my GMAT for the situation that I need to get my MBA in the future to pursue IB. If anyone can provide guidance or insight on my situation, that would be very helpful.
Same situation and feel free to PM if you want to talk.
Curious if you have been getting interviews through networking or applications?
Almost all networking. I come from a non target as well so any success getting into the interview room has come from being persistent and knowing my story.
It's a bit early to study for the GMAT - your best use of time now is finding a good FT offer.
Appreciate the insight. What adjacent roles do you think would set up well for a lateral move? I have only interviewed for IB/PE/PC roles, every place is looking for one person so it is challenging.
Another option is pick up a non-IB job and then do a MSF, which is totally acceptable immediately after undergrad. It's another expense which isn't fun, but you'd get another at-bat with recruiting and also maybe buy some time for the economy and deal flow to recover.
