Post MBA - Big Tech Sales VS Boutique Mgt Consulting

The big tech sales definitely comp better and it is a great company with great reputation,, but I am just afraid of that I may be pigeon holed into the role. My career goal is to move into middle management or equity research buy side. Mgt Consulting pays less but it seems to better position me down my career path. Any advices and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I also do not see myself doing sales at 50 years old. My mentor gave me an anecdotal example, a 50+yr old sell side research analyst try to network with my mentor really hard because everyone he knows in the industry are retiring and he could not connect with the young 25 years old. Therefore, I cannot see this is a long term carer.

My background is that I have several years of experience in finance, CFA and finishing up my MBA.
