Private Equity - Investor Relations

Hey all-- New to the group, hope to learn something.

I have been in Fortune 250 Investor Relations for a couple of years and just completed a first round interview with a ~$50 bn PE firm for an IR analyst role. Recruiter told me they were looking for people to learn the role and continue to progress in the IR department (i.e. not jump to the investment side). I have enjoyed corporate IR but have debated moving instead into the corporate finance side vs continuing in IR. Interested to hear if anyone has any advice or insights on how the day-to-day, lifestyle and compensation compares in PE IR vs corporate finance.

Also curious what exit opportunities would be available after a couple of years in PE IR if I decide I don't want to do that forever.

Feel free to point me to other threads. I have seen a few relevant ones but none quite answering my questions.
