Question on bonus?

I'm planning on putting in notice for my current job after I receive my bonus. The language governing bonus in my offer letter is that I "may be eligible for a discretionary bonus to be paid after completing one year of service" - however, I've only been here 9 months. I was ready to take the new offer I signed without this bonus since it is a good opportunity for me, but the company just decided to pay out in order to keep me on the same cycle with everyone else. Would the company have any basis for asking me to return this bonus or anything like that? There isn't a clause in here stating that I would have to return the bonus if I quit before a year or anything like that in the offer letter I signed, and this isn't a signing bonus. Wanted to know what you guys' thoughts were on this.
