Recruiting for LA vs NYC from West Coast

Hey, I go to West Coast University where we are LA/SF target and NY (semi?)non-target.

My goal is FT in NY IB.

But at the end of the day, I just want to get my foot into the door through an SA 2023 offer.

There are certain firms like PWP where I can only apply for one office, which makes me wonder – do I have a better chance of applying for the LA or NY office??

I understand that NY has more spots open, but it is also a fuck ton more competitive. LA on the other hand has fewer spots open, but I get more looks, but also will I be able to lateral??

I want to get some input from this forum on the dynamics/differences of applying to both these locations from the West. Thank you!
