Recruiting while Laid Off

Does anyone have experience recruiting while after being laid off? I was laid off as an IB analyst, but my firm is letting me say I'm working there till the end of March (without pay)

Should I come clean in my current interview processes or continue to say I'm still actively employed. I have strong references that will say I'm still working there, but in case the firm does an informal channel check it may come up. Or possibly even after I start the job
