Requesting Advice For Becoming a Financial Engineer
Hi all,
I'm a 3rd year undergrad studying math at a school that's a target for most investment banks and financial institutions. I just transferred from a significantly lower tiered/not target school. My ultimate plan/goals: finish my bachelor's, earn a master's of financial engineering and go from there into a financial engineer role. I'd like to ask whether anyone could provide advice on any of the following:
1. What internships for the 2024 summer should I focus on trying to gain? My current intent is to go broad: anything related to manipulating data, working w/ data, or developing algorithms.
2. My college has a lot of student-run investment funds but nothing "quant esque," so what extracurriculars ought I to focus on there?
I can provide more information in a private message (e.g. resume, extracurriculars, past employment, grades).
Also, I apologize in advance for any ignorance — my parents are 20 years removed from living the farmer life and so I'm kind of navigating things by myself here.
Thanks in advance.
