Resume Review for a Jobless Graduate

Can you take a look at my resume and point out anything you would change to make it better? I graduated earlier this year and have had no luck in finding full-time work!

I'm looking for a career in Asset Management, preferably with a high-profile investment management firm, hedge fund, etc.

Pretty good GPA, passed CFA I and II. I'm surprised you haven't been able to find anything. Maybe you're just being too picky (geographically and/or brand name firm)? are you only looking in UT/AZ?

Regarding the resume, looks good. Only thing I would say it to change the format to the M&I template.

Taking a look at your resume:

  1. Definitely rework your format - too much white space with small text - check this out for a sample resume with the right format - http://www.bankonbanking.com/resume-revisions/

  2. Break your Experience up into 2 sections - "Professional Experience" and maybe something like "Leadership Experience" then move your Global Fin Advisors, Missionary Training and Church experience down to there. Additionally, you might want to add your Capital Markets Club in that section as well along with a few bullets and remove the bullets of one of your mission experience if you need space

  3. Remove anything that is HS and clean up your last section - Interests, Skills, and Hobbies, for example, should be the titles of each of your mini sections and the title of your overall last section with the experiences after them

  4. All verbs are past tense - in other words, all experience bullet points should begin with a past tense verb

  5. Get rid of the periods (full stop punctuation)

  6. Expand on your bullet points, especially the professional ones - more analysis and detail needed to go along with what you did and results

  7. Move Bloomberg stuff to last section as "Technical Skills" or "Computer Skills"
