Roles within Finance/Banking with an Emphasis on Research/Emerging Markets?
I'm trying to ascertain what other career paths are possible within banking. I know Equity Research is one thing, but in terms of research on countries/sectors, what roles exist? For example, in Citi, their Financial Strategy and Solutions Group (FSG), even though it functions within IBD, is more of the "academic" and "research-based" groups. Are there any other roles that exist in banks that might serve to yield to those who want more of an academic and research-based role (but still want good comp)?
