SA 2027 Question

So I have an offer at EYP for 2027, Financial Diligence in LA, but I really want to also recruit for the Strategy and Product role at Jane Street. However to my knowledge, they don't let you work there full time unless you have done an internship prior. Since I am graduating early, would it be wise to do the internship the Spring 2028, so that way I have time to do the Jane Street internship (assuming I get it) over Summer 2027, and not have to reneg EYP? Or should I reneg EYP if I get Jane Street for Summer 2027?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's how you might approach this situation:

  1. Timing and Strategy: If Jane Street requires prior internship experience for full-time roles, securing their Summer 2027 internship is critical. Since you're graduating early, doing the Jane Street internship in Summer 2027 and then pursuing the EYP Financial Diligence internship in Spring 2028 could be a strategic move. This way, you avoid reneging on EYP while keeping your options open for Jane Street.

  2. Reneging Considerations: Reneging on an offer, especially with a reputable firm like EYP, can have long-term reputational risks. If you’re leaning toward Jane Street, it’s better to plan your timeline to accommodate both opportunities rather than reneging.

  3. Communication: If you decide to pursue this path, communicate with EYP about your early graduation and explore the possibility of shifting your internship to Spring 2028. Many firms are flexible with timelines, especially if you’re transparent and professional in your approach.

  4. Backup Plan: If Jane Street doesn’t work out, having EYP as a solid option ensures you’re not left without an internship. Make sure to maintain good relationships with both firms throughout the process.

Ultimately, prioritize the opportunity that aligns best with your long-term career goals while minimizing risks to your professional reputation.

Hey off topic but I had a few questions. Are you a sophomore? If so, how did you secure EYP for 2027 already? Did applications for EYP 2027 already open and close?
