Second round follow up, what bankers really like to talk about
Hi guys,
After reading as much cold-emailing/networking posts as I can, I feel like I'm hitting the rock right now.
I recently graduated from a Canadian target school, international student, eco major, and looking to break into S&T (sales trader, I don't have the quant skills to be a trader) or equity-related investment analyst.
I have built up some connections in the past two years, some I 've had coffee chat with and some I've met at company's info session(very recent), got their business card and followed up with a thank you letter. I've compiled their contacts on an excel sheet, and so far I've got 38 of them raging from IBD, ST to corporate banking and wealth management.
I know it's time(maybe a bit late) to make my second move to follow up with them and to intensify the relationship. However, I'm not sure whether they still remember me or are up for another coffee chat/drinks? In this case, my goal is to really have a smooth conversation with them instead of the informational chats(in Q&A form) I had before, and yes, to make some good impressions. As much as I want an internship/FT opportunity, I realize it's not gonna happen after 1 or 2 drinks.
Probably due to my international background, I wouldn't say the bonding in the past was too successful. And as an Asian girl, I don't know how big the chance is, that I may find a common ground/sth relatable to people in the industry.
I like to socialize with people and don't fear of reaching out. Because they are all important connections and potential career opportunities, I guess I'm being extra conscious here. What should I do to make this second-round networking more efficient? And to really connect with people? Any networking advice/experiences at this point are invaluable to me, and very much welcomed.
Thanks in advance.
