Nobody talks about how good Ross is for IB recruitment

I'm a rising junior at Ross and I just finished recruiting - landed an offer at a top EB (Moelis/Lazard/PJT/PWP). I'm in a top finance club on campus. I've noticed that this site doesn't really give Ross the credit it deserves. This year we sent multiple kids to every single top BB/EB, as well as a few people to Blackstone, Ares, and other PE firms. I've also noticed lot of people who got top offers aren't necessarily in 'top' clubs, and you don't even really need to be in a club to get a solid offer. Based on the sheer amount of kids that get offers at top firms (I would say at the very least 80 people got offers), Ross is definitely a major target school for a lot of banks. Curious to hear your thoughts about this.

Don’t want to say which one, but one of MII/GIC/MIBC/AIC. These are the best at Michigan but a lot of really sweaty kids lmao. Definitely apply to all of these tho if u wanna recruit

I went to Ross and dw bro everyone knows it’s really good. When you tell people on the street you went there they only say great things

Sorry you didn't get the PJT offer man - let me know if you need help with college essays if you want to transfer and recruit from a target.

Not at Ross but had a friend there / people from my bank from there -

My take is it’s clear that top students at Ross land great jobs, but it’s a pretty big class (500 per year I think?) with the vast majority gunning for finance jobs. If 80 are landing IB/PE jobs and we assume 1/2 the class is going for those jobs, that’s not a great placement rate.

I think of it as similar to stern - great placements on an aggregate basis but a bit tougher when you look per capita.

Complete opposite of some ivies/LACs where only a small group is recruiting for IB so placement doesn’t look great but most people who recruit land something good

Not exactly. Based on everything I’ve heard from the career center/what I’ve read, less than 200 kids from Ross recruit IB each year. But that doesn’t include people from LSA/other colleges.

Is it reasonable to say that ~250 kids are legitimately gunning for IB/PE? Serious question. Don’t go to Ross but thats a lot. Especially considering the fact that it’s only reasonable to classify 3.7+ GPA/Clubs/prepped as ones “gunning for banking”

I'd say the number of kids recruiting IB at Michigan overall is closer to the 150-160 range based on turnouts at info sessions, which were closer to 100-120 at max. And if 80 or so get strong placements and another bunch get IB offers at smaller firms, that's still pretty good. Usually, most kids who are competitive will land an offer

Just want to add that it's not just Ross, it's Michigan overall. I know kids not in Ross who've gotten offers at EVR, PJT, CVP, LAZ, and the like. But a lot of it runs through the clubs so that's the main funnel

I thought top EB refer to CVP/EVR/PJT. Since there is another term called EB

We get it, you got rejected by [insert Harvard, Wharton, Columbia, Stern, Dyson, UChicago, Yale, Princeton, any other tier 1 target] when you applied ED/EA and RD back in high school. Congrats on hustling out of ur ghetto low-target/high-semi target school and hanging with the big bois now chump.

Those are all private schools and there is something called in-state tuition... made some of my friends take Ross over Stern/Dyson and even lower Ivies

Classic BIWS textbook answer to "Why didn't you attend a better school?" [Insert no-name state school] offered me a more generous financial aid package/in-state tuition was cheaper so that's why I ended up at ...

I got into Dartmouth and Cornell. Didn't apply to any of those schools because they're full of fucking nerds. While you spent your freshman and sophomore years of college jerking off to Rosenbaum and Pearl, I went out 3-4x a week, woke up at 6am for game days, and got laid probably more than u ever will. get a life geed

you woke up at 6am to go to game days bro you are so cool

have fun working at Gugg, they place really well into MM funds

Stop using words like palpable on here, it's embarrassing. You definitely get no play.
