Sector Recommendations for graduate roles
As an undergrad who did not secure a Summer internship, I am still unsure what specific sector I am interested in targeting. I feel as though quantity over quality is a wasted approach when applying to internships and will yield similar results for grad roles, but I am also confident that I'd perform well in any division of an investment bank, hedge fund or PE firm etc. How do I select a discipline when there is only very limited information available about operations within roles, or does anyone have any recommendations for UK graduate programs that offer significant interdisciplinary carousel-style positions?
Not sure what you mean by "sector" as in "sector group" or "industry" so I'm going to be showing bias here but FIG is a very difficult sector to understand, but if you do, it's a very good one that's helped me a lot in interviews.
I used to be a FIG analyst at Uni for the student society and I've probably got a fair bunch of ER / IBD interviews from it (more for ER to be fair but still).
I accepted an offer for FIG ER only because of the brand name but I plan to do an OC in FIG in the same bank because they're a top name and it's a good way of easing into the environment.
I know others will disagree but it helped me so (shrug)
