Should I ask a guy that said he can forward my resume / help me BEFORE or AFTER i do hireVue for internship

I applied for 2 morgan stanley internships last week (corp treasury / finance program, so not the super competitive ones). I haven't got an hirevue at all, so a bit skeptical about whats up since I heard MS sends out hirevue right away unless they are waiting until the fall for these roles.

I have a guy I networked with 3 ish weeks ago that said he could forward my resume / ask around for ppl who deals with interns to help me, but should I ask him next week if I still dont get an hirevue? Or hope that I get one soon, do it, and then ask him to help me out?

Thanks monkeys

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's what you need to know:

  • Timing of Asking for Help: If you haven't received a HireVue invitation yet, it might be beneficial to reach out to the person who offered to help you. This can potentially expedite the process or at least give you some clarity on your application status.

  • How to Ask: When reaching out, be polite and concise. You can mention that you applied for the internships and haven't received a HireVue yet. Express your continued interest in the roles and ask if he could forward your resume or inquire about the status of your application.

  • Sample Email:

Hello Name, I hope you're doing well! I wanted to follow up on our conversation from a few weeks ago. I recently applied for the Corporate Treasury and Finance Program internships at Morgan Stanley but haven't received a HireVue invitation yet. I'm very interested in these roles and was wondering if you might be able to forward my resume or ask around about the status of my application. I would greatly appreciate any assistance you can provide. Thank you so much for your help! Best regards, [Your Name]
  • General Advice: It's often better to be proactive rather than waiting too long. If someone has offered to help, take advantage of that opportunity sooner rather than later.

Good luck with your application!
