Should I Stay In Chem(Petroleum) Engineering To Break Into Canadian O&G?

Hello everyone

I'm in a non-target US state school(~T80) right now, but I will be transferring after my sophomore year after I manage a 4.0. Obviously, It will be hard compete with people who go to target such as Rotman etc, so I was wondering whether staying in Chem(Petroleum) engineering will give me an edge, and if so , how much. I'm international student and I wish to 'make it' in Canada.
