Siblings in IB
Does anyone have experience working at the same firm as their sibling in IB? I'm currently in college but have an older brother working full time as an IBD analyst at a BB and am wondering if it would be worth it to apply for his firm? I'm not interested in his specific group. I'm just wondering if it is worth it to dive all in networking at said firm if having a close relative working there will hurt my chances.
Why would this hurt your chances at all lol this will help you a ton
Network with your brother's fellow analysts, both at his firm and friends at others. They're somewhat obligated to help you out since you have that connection
Depends on the bank - if it's BofA, I've heard that they have some kind of "no nepotism" policy where you can't be hired in the same area as your sibling. Definitely something to look into first.
It only applies to same group. If you have a sibling in say C&R, you can still get an offer for any other IBD group that isn't C&R.
That's right, thank you for the clarification; +1 SB.
I work at BofA and know an analyst with his brother as intern in the same IBD group
Happens a lot at my EB.
Whenever RBC comes to my school for ocr, there’s always a pair of siblings who come. Both graduated from the same school and work in IB (different groups and ranks though).
Bump, anyone know the policy on this for other BBs? (GS,CITI,CS)
I know some twins at CS, unsure of GS and citi
