Signed Offer/Given Notice, but New Firm Delaying Start, Should I Go Back?

Thank you all in advance for chipping in.

So I've signed an offer/given notice already. New firm has pushed out my start date a few times. Given the current environment, I am really wondering when/if I will start with them. The old firm has asked me if I want to go back. I understand taking the counter offer is usually not a good choice (might be the first to go/last to reward). Having a job in this environment is important. But this new job is something I really want to do.

Any advice is appreciated.

I have had similar issues. Accepted an offer, gave my notice and was told start date would be pushed off by 1 month to beginning of May.

Have you left your firm? If not, you can explain and ask to continue work for a bit longer. This was what I did. If you have already left, going back is a much BIGGER issue. Live with the counter offer if the new firm is really unreliable! You don't even know if they can keep their promise right?
