Summer Intern looking to lateral to new position within Bank.

I am a Summer Intern at a BB doing Internal Audit following ECM sitting with the IB and S&T teams. I took this Internship because I wanted to be in NYC and it was the best offer I could land as a college sophomore. 

The end goal when I graduate is to land a position outside Internal Audit hopefully at the same bank but doing Equity Research or IB. Applications for these summer 2024 internships are live for my bank, but I am hesitant to apply and really network and share my desire with people on these teams since I feel that could raise some red flags among members of the Bank (HR).

I would appreciate some advice on how to approach this and find a good balance between recruitment for next year and not spoiling ties within my current team in case things do not work out.
