Summer Onboarding Timeline: I got a call from a director but no follow-ups

I signed an offer for a summer internship last June. Last December, I got a voicemail from a director in the firm welcoming me to the firm and wanting to speak to me about a few things. I wasn't able to return the call immediately since I was in the middle of something, so I called her back a few days later. I have tried calling twice, emailing twice, and leaving her a voicemail as well. However, I didn't get any response and the director has not contacted me again. 

Any advice on what I should do? Or ideas on what this would be about?

I'm kind of confused and considering asking HR if there's anything I need to do, but should I just wait for further information?
