The Weakest Background to Find Job in Quant/SnT

Hi there,

I would like to ask what kind of internship-seeking strategy should be developed for those with a weak background.

I'd like to introduce myself, from a flagship state university. I'm majoring in computers. I've been writing code for ten years, almost as long as I've known how to use a computer. But as I've reached this crossroads in my life, I'm starting to get a little tired of writing code for tech companies as a full-time career(It's not that varied, challenging, or passionate enough for me anymore). So, I started thinking about the possibility of a career change, and I'm aiming for the Quant or SnT industry.  Thus, I would like to ask the experienced people on this forum what strategies I should designate in my job search to increase my chances of getting an internship.

My Pros:

1. my coding skills are strong, at least in terms of implementing the given requirements, in most areas of computing.

2. I used to work in the field of theoretical machine learning and have several top conference papers to my credit.

3. Interned at Google Research, worked as a CTO at a startup, and helped the startup achieve a certain level of profitability.

My Cons:

1. I come from a bad university, a top 50 average university, and I don't have a high GPA.

2.  I have a mild case of Asperger's, and a position that requires a lot of interaction with people might not be a good fit for me.

Thank you to all who offered advice and for helping me at a time in my life when I was a bit lost.
