Tips for lateral as an an1
Any tips for a An1 looking to lateral, currently at a BB think DB/Barc/UBS. Obviously the market is tough already but looking to switch.

Wouldn't recommend the move for 'prestige' beause its just not worth it (especially if you're then looking to make the PE move on year later) - nly do it if you have a genuine problem with team/culture/people

Was just a joke, it's kind of crazy to include Barclays with UBS/DB, I thought Barclays was significantly better.
AN1 like you just started? unfortunately the market is going to have zero interest in you for at least another 6-8 months minimum, so you will have to tough it out for a bit. You should be able to switch after bonus next year, spots will depend on the market but just network with any spots you see open.
Do you network months in advance, or only when you see the open postion?
Only when you see an open role. In this type of market you'd be wasting your time reaching out to groups that may never open lateral spots... most are in negative lateral spots in that they are still laying off IB employees, so groups that are understaffed are far and few between
