Assuming that I do well during my summer internship and receive a full time offer, how likely is it to transfer to the NY Office? My summer internship is at a regional office at a BB.
Also, if anyone has any tips/suggestions for transferring, that would be greatly appreciated.

Return offer in a different city after summer internship (Originally Posted: 06/17/2016)
I am working as a SA at a BB regional office and I really want to move to a different city, another regional office covering an industry I am more interested in.
How should I do this? I understand that I should focus on getting a return offer in my current office, but when should I start networking with people in the other office and letting them know about my intention? If i reach out to people in that office at the end of summer, would it be too late? But I also am afraid that they might tell people in my office that I am thinking about not returning.
And I am just curious in general what that process would look like? Would I go through interviews? Please, I really need insights into this.
Yes, you should start now and network with your target office. Honestly, there isn't incentive for the target office people to tell your current office that you are not returning. If they want you, they will extend the offer directly to you. If not, they will reject your request. It's understandable that people have preferences over office locations. Don't sweat about it - just make sure you still maintain a hardworking attitude throughout the internship regardless the outcome.

I'm currently a rising junior at a non-target within the NYC area. This summer I am interning in an ER role, with plans to pursue an investment banking SA position next summer. My goal upon college graduation is to start a 2-3 year stint as a full time analyst at an BB/MM bank.
However, for reasons unrelated to the field itself, I would like to spend those first 2-3 years in a city other than New York (or even another "tier 1" city like Chi, LA, SF). I know many people on this forum will say that I am giving up exit opps and would have virtually no shot at PE/HF afterwards, and I understand that may be true to some extent.
Even so, does anyone have any thoughts on if it would be possible for me to complete my 2018 SA position in New York and then transfer to another city to start full time? I am curious to know if anyone has done this or knows of someone who has and can shed some light to how difficult the transition is to get approved. I would imagine if you are staying in the same group at a different location it would be easier than switching groups entirely, but it still might not be possible for all I know.
Any advice/thoughts will be helpful. Appreciate the input.
From what I've heard and read most of those other regions like taking FT offers from their regions. (i.e. SF likes Stanford and UC Berkeley). For SF in specific, a lot of the initial analyst positions are for tech IB so I don't know if that's what you're looking for. I would guess that it would be difficult but not impossible as others have been able to do so.
