Wondering if anyone can share their story or offer advice on moving to an entry level IB Analyst position 2 years out of undergrad. Currently working in Asset Management at a BB and have looked into transitioning but all entry-level positions seem to be allocated to the new grads and returning interns. They aren't ever posted internally which makes it tough.
As a follow-up, if nothing materializes would an MBA be the best option in another 1-2 years? Ultimate goal is PE but I know going the MBA route without prior PE experience significantly reduces the likelihood. Thanks!
Network, Network, Network. Although AM at a BB is definitely not the worst place to be. Keep hustling, and if nothing shows up after you have 3 years of W/E, go to B school. Although you can hedge your bet and start taking the GMAT if you don't get anything in a year.

Hit up the usual HH suspects and just have a good reasonable story for wanting to move to IB. And use your network - if you're in AM at a BB, I'm sure you have friends in IB (and if not, I'm sure you have an alumni network you can tap into).
Great advice, what about any input on the MBA route? I've seen countless comments about this pigeonholing you from PE but would it still be a best option 1-2 years out should nothing materialize or would it just be a waste of time/money?

Network your ass off. I broke in 3 years after undergrad. Make sure you can demonstrate you know the fundamentals.
