Transitioning From Risk
Hello, I'm currently working as an Asset Management Risk Analyst for a bulge bracket bank with around a year of experience. I'm also currently pursuing a CFA. I wonder how easy it is and steps to take to transition to the asset management team or a buy side investment analyst role. Would it be better to talk to HR, manager, or someone on the Asset Management team? My concern with this that I don't them to consider firing me if an internal transfer is not possible.
Also correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I should be good at financial modeling and valuation if I want to transition. Is this mostly from learning online since there's not much of a chance for on the job learning.
Any advice or experience from people that have transitioned before would be appreciated. Thanks.
