UIUC The Stanley C. Golder Academies
Good day everyone,
I am a community college student who is looking to transfer to UIUC. It's certainly not an Ivy League school, but I believe their college of business is still really competitive, and hopefully, GPA of 3.9 will suffice to get me accepted. However, I recently found out that there are also these three academies within the institution called The Stanley C. Golder Academies. One is for Investment Banking, one for Finance, and one for Investment Management. All three are highly-selective, which leaves room to wonder: how important are these academies for one to be competitive on the job market? Can one break into the industry from UIUC without admission to any of these academies? Thank you for your time.

Sure, people can break in... just takes networking. But, these academies will give you a leg-up because they have alumni members who want to help out and give back. Check out IU Kelley's IBW, UIUC's IBA was based off of the IBW.
