undergrad senior at USC Marshall, no finance related background, how do I land a summer internship?

What’s up guys, I’m a senior at USC in the business school. Worked at startups in the past but never in finance. Feeling like I missed the boat.

Graduating December 2023 Starting my masters in finance at USC in 2024.

How should I go about recruiting for IB/PE? Do I try cold emailing to join a boutique firm and then join a BB next recruiting season?

I’m thinking I’ll take some courses from here maybe, shoot a ton of cold emails to boutique firms, and apply to as many IB/PE summer internships as possible

You will not get looks if you don’t have any relevant experience, which at the moment you don’t. I suggest doing what you mentioned and network with boutiques. Once you have some kind of internship at a boutique, you will likely get a first round if you have a good gpa and a good resume. Also, taking courses and listing your certifications from these courses on your resume is also a good way to show banks that you’re set on IB.
