Unemployment
Hey everyone,
I’m currently a college senior going to BB IB after graduation (hopefully). Given all of what’s going on, I lost my on campus job. Although it’s not a big deal and I’m by no means struggling because of it, my parents are. They own small businesses that had to shut down and if I file for unemployment (i qualify) I can help them with some short-term cash. My worry is that later down the line it will come up that I filed for unemployment. I want to stay in finance and hopefully move to the Buyside but will getting unemployment hurt my chances? Any advice or recommendations will be helpful. Thanks!
I've filed for unemployment three times. I've worked at GS, Citadel among others. The global head of IBD at GS referred my resume to return to the firm in December and I'm working on a deal on my own with Citadel.
Please, for the love of God, do not think for a second that anyone gives a fuck.
Can companies see if you’ve collected unemployment?
I went through Citadel background check after the first time and no issues, so it's irrelevant if they see it
