Unusual Scenario...Could it work out?

Hi WSO,

So I am in a bit of a weird scenario at this point in the recruiting game. I just accepted a summer analyst position with a BB recently and received another offer today for a Co-Op opportunity this Spring Semester. This Co-Op is NOT a pipeline for a full time position (This was repeated over and over in the informational interviews). That said, I would have to drop accounting as a second major and stick solely with finance in order to graduate at the time that was stated on my resume to the BB.

I am seriously considering going to the BB and proposing this to them. This would allow me to pay off my existing student loans and, in combination with my summer internship, I would be able to pay off my final year of school as well.

My question, how risky does this sound to all of you? Could this potentially offend people at my summer internship, or do you think they would be understanding because of my situation?

Thanks!

I honestly don't think the BB hired you for your double major. You obviously did well in the interview, and they liked you, so I would say go for it. I'm sure they would be understanding if you told them.

I don't even think I would bring it up, actually.

The only reason why I am thinking of bringing it up is because I don't want the summer to come around and they question why I only took three credits the previous semester. I don't know if this would potentially bar me from the internship or not, but I've seen internships having a requirement of being a full time student in the previous semester.
