UPenn (non wharton) vs. Dartmouth

Trying to decide where to ED. I'm interested in Econ/CS ---> finance/tech. I realize Wharton would be the best choice job potential wise, but I didn't enjoy the cut-throat culture I felt there when I visited. Thoughts?

Yeah I definitely did not like the atmosphere at Wharton, and I imagine some of the toxic, competitive culture there has probably spilled over into Penn CAS. I think the only thing holding me back from EDing to Dartmouth is just my insecurity over it being seen as a less prestigious school. Pretty superficial on my part, I know, but it is the reality of it.

dartmouth is severely underestimated on this forum- they have a different school schedule so during the winter term kids get to intern at very legit shops and banks...i know a lot of guys there that are at top shops. very very underrated on this forum.

Is it wrong to assume that Penn CAS (non-wharton) has more OCR/opportunities available to students simply due to its proximity to Wharton, though? Or do the Wharton students generally snag the internships over CAS students?

I can answer this as a recent Wharton graduate. Penn CAS students have access to mostly all the finance OCR opportunities (barring top HF/PE jobs like Silverpoint and Silverlake). From what I've seen, the CAS students who are competitive for OCR opportunities typically have great resumes (high GPA, finance internships, Wharton club paticipation). The standard for CAS students to be competitive for most IB positions will be higher than Wharton students. However my CAS friends who recruited for finance positions had lighter technical questions and interesting interview discussion where they can talk about balancing their finance interests with a traditional ivy-league liberal arts curriculum. They also get to avoid Wharton's pre-professional, intense culture.

Is Columbia out?

Penn>Dartmouth. hilarious to read comments saying Dartmouth is more fun. proximity to Wharton also means great IB jobs and internships for a good amount of CAS kids. simple LinkedIn scan can tell you strength of Dartmouth’s OCR
