Valuation analyst trying to break into investment banking

Currently a valuation analyst at a small valuation firm. Did not get a return offer at an MM last summer and with FT recruiting being pretty tough, I went with whatever came my way. I was an international student so the priority was staying in the country. Now that I’ve been working for a few months I wanted to hear some advice about breaking into investment banking from this background. My current firm says they’ll be open for sponsorship but as of right now it isn’t promised so would love to hear some thoughts about investment banking recruiting!
