Well, got my offer rescinded..

After a month of waiting on the background check, I got my offer from MM rescinded. The part that really sucks is that I disclosed my charge (misdemeanor theft) from day 1.
I guess it's back to square one but my motivation level dropped to rock bottom.
I hope none of you guys has to go through this.

Offer Rescinded after background check

There is speculation that smaller banks may just verify employment information. So looking consider looking at boutique firms. However, most banks will probably still do a criminal background check regardless of size.

Disclose any legal matters if asked. You want to have a good story about the case if you get asked. Acknowledge that you made a mistake and be sure to communicate that you've changed.

You can also hire an attorney and seek legal advice on the matter. It may be possible to get the charges reduced or expunged.

Key Takeaways

  • You can get a job at firms with good brand names if you have record. But

from user @FNMRN"

I just had my first day of orientation at Accenture. I was prepared all through last week to answer questions and explain my side but it wasn't necessary because they didn't ask.
I have a copy of my background check from HireRight and they flagged the county in Arizona I was worried about; not sure what happened but I consider myself extremely lucky. Horseshoe up my ass.
This is not to gloat; I feel obligated to inform WSO how I ended up. I passed the background check.

That sucks, man. Stupid "insignificant" charges like that can haunt you for a long time.

I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

What'd ya steal? Hope it was something cool at least.

Under my tutelage, you will grow from boys to men. From men into gladiators. And from gladiators into SWANSONS.

Apply to Asia - No background check. Leverage that MM pre-rescinded offer. (Can say something about headcount, etc.) There are absolutely no background checks in North/South Asia, kids, reformed-felons and substance users. -- Unless this has changed.

Don't sweat it. Get hired at a startup, etc. etc.

That sucks man really sorry to hear it. Obviously you're definitely investment banking caliber talent so I'm sure you'll land something elsewhere. "Don't get discouraged. It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see". -HDT

People tend to think life is a race with other people. They don't realize that every moment they spend sprinting towards the finish line is a moment they lose permanently, and a moment closer to their death.

Well nobody "mistakenly" steals stuff so I'm laughing at you, you f-ing theif! You'll never get a job in the US. Might as well move to China like the guy above said.

Yah dude, work on getting it expunged or something. Smaller places don't care. Welcome to America were one mistake in your life will ruin you forever.

The theft charge is due to a stupid conflict I had back in college with my roommate, which ultimately led to a police involvement. I'm not trying to say it wasn't my fault because it was a foolish decision making on my part, but that's in the past and I believe I paid my dues. It's not like I robbed anyone or any place.

Either way, I guess this will haunt me for a long time. So if any young college kids or prospective employees are reading this, think twice about stupid stunt or prank or anything that can have a slightest impact on your sheet.

Were u just charged or or convicted?or was the caase dismissed?

Don't you have to speak the language to work in Asia?

I wish i could shove my dick so far up your dick that it creates a gaping vagina, because that's who you are. Just tell them that you're a ginormous douche-canoe with a gaping vagina. They'll understand.
