WHAT DID I JUST DO!!!

I'm in a state of panic and came on here to gain some perspective. I recently rejected an offer from a top BB firm for ops (GS/MS). I did this in favor of joining the in about a year peace corps. Am i an idiot for doing this???? reason being is that i want to go for a FT MBA in a couple years and i want to go to an M7.I figured that this experience would be far more beneficial than OPS. What do you guys think? Im also doing a masters in econ before i join the peace corps and hope to boost my GPA and get placed in the business side of the peace corps.

I'm going to respectfully disagree with Gekko. MBA-wise, I would even argue (from past alums) that Ops at one of those firms will even help you as many Top MBAs look for diversity. The networking is also something to be considered. Best of luck though!

I know a lot of people who did the Peace Corps and they all said that the experience was very eye-opening and rewarding, but rarely did they learn any real marketable skills...

I don't believe peace corps is going to help much for top MBA programs, otherwise wouldn't everyone do it?

I do know some highly qualified kids who didn't get GS Ops this year, pretty competitive compared to past years; just a different way of looking at it.
