What job opportunities does a MFin from these universities give you?

Hi,
I wonder about the job oppurtunites a MSc in Finance would be out of these universtites:

  • Master in Finance from Imperial.
  • MFE from Said Business School.
  • MFA from LBS.

I am interested in IB, HF and PE. My interest have always been in HF but starting in IB at a bank would be a great start in my carrier. And thereafter move to HF after a couple of years.

I wonder what my chances are at GS/MS/JPM in London. Do they recruit from alot of students from Imperial?
If I cant land IB at those what other oppurtunities do I have?

Thanks,

Only personal preference. I will apply to LSE aswell, but If I get admitted into Said or LBS, I'd go with either of those two.

However, MFin at Imperial is my safe bet and I am worried I'll have troubles getting into IB at JPM/GS/MS after my masters at Imperial.

Hey, I did the MFA and can tell you that students in my cohort were placed in all three BBs you mentioned above. I can’t recommend LBS enough, it was a great experience.

Outcomes will be very similar for the MFE, and getting there from Imperial isn’t impossible but certainly harder. They are all good programmes nonetheless.

HF Point 72 Brevan Howard Man Group Citadel That I know of...

PE Terra Firma 3i Partners Group (this may be for continental Europe only) Silver Lake Blackstone

I could be wrong though because I didn't really recruit for buy side roles when I was a student.

The above will typically only take a handful of analysts and most of them had very substantial experience prior to the master's.

So, since you want to go to a hedge fund, isn't Masters in Risk Management & Financial Engineering from Imperial more quant- related?

“Destiny is a gift. Some go their entire lives, living existences of quiet desperation, never learning the truth that what feels as though a burden pushing down upon their shoulders is really a sense of purpose that lifts us to greater heights. Never forget that fear is but the precursor to valor, that to strive and triumph in the face of fear is what it means to be a hero. Don’t think. Become.”

I figure its a good idea to keep my options open. A MSc in finance keeps alot of options open, if you want to do IB or PE.

I am not an expert but a MSc in Risk management & Fin Eng. may increase my chances at a hedge fund, but I doubt I'll be as attractive to IB or PE. Or am I completely wrong?

How do the MSc in Risk managament & Fin. Eng. place? Do the students get good jobs ?

I understand you can find the question dumb.

However, I am applying in September and Imperial is my safe bet. I do know Said, LBS gives good oppurtunities. I am not sure with Imperial and thats why I am asking. I'm also asking for other oppurtunities if I can't land those IB roles at GS/JPM/MS (and other analyst roles at reputable PE/HF).

I just dont want to take a Master in London, and end up with a job I don't want. I dont find that dumb.
