What to do if you don’t know the technical

Hey guys this may be dumb but in prep for interviews I was wondering what to do if you do not know the a technical question? Do you try and explain through what you know (if anything) or do you admit you have no clue and move on?

If you don’t know the answer to a technical question, despite what others here may say, it is NOT an automatic “no”. Respond by saying “look, I am not sure, but my thinking is ...” and state what you’re thinking - take 30 seconds if need be, interviewers are people, not egomaniacs, they’ve been in your shoes. You will be respected far more for admitting where you are unsure and stating your thought process than you will for trying to waffle your way through an answer that will only be challenged relentlessly at the first scent of BS.
