what’s after IB for best job out of university (toronto)
Hi guys, just curious what would you think is the best job out of university post graduation that’s not investment banking. If you had to pick a second best? What would it be? When i mean best I’m asking in terms of growth opportunities, comp and experience?
The safest answer is truly just MBB consulting. Comparable if not better pay, prestige, and on the job experience telling CEOs how they should fire half their workforce. It may be equally hard however to land a top offer, and the hours are somewhat equally unforgiving, but people tend to think it offers a more wholistic managerial perspective.
MBB consulting is a great path, but saying it has comparable pay and hours is just incorrect lol
Most of the pensions have analyst programs straight out of school. You can avoid doing your banking stint (which arguably has benefits) and go direct to a top Canadian PE job.
Examples include OTPP’s new grad programs, I think CPPIB’s, OPTrust’s office of the CIO rotational, OMERS rotational, etc etc
Heard it was true however that an associate from a rotational gets paid less than a 2-year IB into pension associate, any data points on this?
I haven’t heard that before, but if it is true that is super weird
