When to hear back after first round interview?
I had a first round interview on Monday for a development associate role that I’m really excited about. I haven’t heard anything back yet - how long should I expect / when should I follow up?
Depends on company, but I'd say usually you'd hear back within a week, most likely 1-5 days. Depends on the company and how busy they are. Granted, if they aren't considering you, they may just ghost you. What did the interviewer say at the end of your interview?
It was pretty standard “we’ll be reaching back out in the next week or so” said that he enjoyed the conversation. I thought it went pretty well but am starting to second guess now.
Yea, we've all been in your position. Second guessing how the interview went and if we'll make it to the next round. Unfortunately, none of us can really know. Even if your conversation went well, they could like other candidates more. It's a very tough market. Having said that, if you felt like it went well and you feel like you're good at reading people, then sounds like its likely they will reach out. Sounds like you still have time if they said they'd reach out next week. Wouldnt freak out just yet. Could easily respond tomorrow/Monday/Tuesday/
Make sure you write a short thank you email if you haven’t yet
Did that after the interview - they sent a pretty generic response “we’ll reach out as we finish up first round interview. I thought the convo went well thanks for coming in etc etc”
Usually a response to your thank you note is a good sign.
What's your take on usual timeline, regardless of what they told him.
I would expect a week or so, but also I’ve had it be longer and shorter
