Why Do So Many Students Struggle After Internships?

I’ve been speaking with several students recently who completed internships in accounting or finance, yet when it comes to the actual job market, they still feel stuck.

Common things I hear:

“I did an internship but still get rejected.”

“Every entry-level role wants experience.”
“I don’t know how to explain my internship in interviews.”

The truth is, an internship alone doesn’t guarantee a job offer. What often makes the difference is how well you can:

• Turn your internship tasks into impact stories.
• Answer behavioural questions clearly
• Demonstrate technical understanding in accounting/finance
• Present a strong career narration

I’ve been mentoring students on preparing for accounting and finance interviews, helping them structure their experience and improve their interview performance.

I'm curious to hear from others here:

What has been the hardest part of transitioning from internship → full-time job?

If you’re a student preparing for accounting or finance interviews, feel free to comment or reach out. Always happy to share insights and help where I can.
