Will this be regarded well as a sophomore internship???!
I'm a rising junior attending target (Cornell) w/ a 3.66 cumulative gpa. I know this is sort of low, but it is what it is and I can't really do much about it. It'll be the GPA junior SA recruiters see as well, since recruiting has been moved up to the fall and I won't get my next semester's GPA added into that cumulative. Oh well.
Anyway. This summer I couldn't manage to find any IB/S&T/Wall-Street related stint, so I'm working as a "Finance Intern" at a NYSE traded bio-tech company. I'm not quite sure what I'll be doing yet, but I think it may be more process mapping and accounting than finance - although I'll try to convince my manager to get me more banking applicable projects.
Will this put me at a disadvantage come recruiting season? The fact that I don't have a sophomore SA position? I know there are those sophomores who manage to get IB experience in the summer, and I wasn't one of them. :(
You will be fine. There are kids out there that lifeguard at their local country club and still break into IB their junior year, assuming they're at a target school.
If you are from CT please PM me. My boutique IB firm is looking for a SA
