Working at IB in the tech area / want to transfer to finance side

Hi all. Just curious about what would be advantageous to break into finance at an IB coming from a tech background and working at an IB. I've been self studying some financial accounting, along side reading through Investment Banking by Rosenbaum. I've also recently begun going through Financial Edge's "The Investment Bankermicro-degree.

What would be the best route for me to have the opportunity to get into IB or the finance world? I'm planning on preparing for GMAT thinking that the best route for me would potentially be an MBA or MSF and trying for a pre-program internship as well as network connections from the programs.

I don't necessarily mind if I don't start in a good spot or if it's going to be hard. I just want to be able to do what I can to break in and once I'm in I can manage what I need to do from there.

Thanks for any insight anyone could provide! I'm planning on reaching out to a mentor on WSO but was hoping to see if anyone could offer up anything for free before I do.
