Former Lehman risk manager might not actually be a horrible thing to have on the resume. I know of quite a few risk managers at hedge funds that blew up that went on to have lucrative jobs consulting other hedge funds about how to avoid problems that caused the risk manager's former fund to blow up.

Having AIG on the resume probably isn't great for those hunting for jobs right now either.

having worked at a firm that revolutionized energy trading and had huge profits until their illegal market manipulation was uncovered, would look pretty damn good. its not like the industry is filled with fat old ladies with their hands on their hip, shaking their fingers at naughty boys. I think high competence/expertise is rewarded even if you eventually fail by outside forces (e.g. the gov). (Though this is not what has happened recently on wall street of course)

worst: euro index derivatives compliance/operations at Societe Generale, 2007-2008, since Kerviel's is still the biggest single trading loss, right?
