2024 FT roommate thread

Hello everyone, I’m moving to NYC around beginning/middle June to start FT. Office is in FiDi.

Looking for roommates for a 3 bedroom in Jersey City.

About me: Working in research, workout ~6x a week, love F1 & exploring local restaurant scenes.

I am a second year-year analyst at a MM (Restructuring)

I am seeking to find two male roommates to join a lease (starting July 2024) at my current apartment since my two current roommates are moving. The apartment is located in a post-war building (with a doorman) in Midtown East around 2nd Ave and 52nd. The apartment itself is a 2 bedroom flex 3, so there are 3 bedrooms in total. I have lived here for almost 2 years and really like the building, location and the apartment. Rent is ~$5,500 per month (to be split between the three of us)

TLDR

Me: Second year analyst at MM (Restructuring)

Seeking: Two male roommates to join year-long lease for my current apartment (i.e. I want to renew)

City: NYC

Neighborhood: Midtown East (near 2nd Ave and 52nd)

When: Lease starts July 2024

NYC, yes... but not state income tax.

You still get taxed by two different states + Federal. While there might be certain aspects of adjusted rates/paying less than full tax on one/other, I believe you still get taxed in both states, in at least some way; and I believe you have to file both state income tax returns.

I could be wrong, but I believe that was the case when a few guys moved to Jersey, while still working in the city. However, I think the net tax implication was only slightly worse to live in Jersey.

It's worth at least looking into, as to not be surprised later on. I'm not critical of Jersey, only suggesting to look into the tax issue.

Anyone who’s still looking and open to the Murray Hill area shoot me a PM

Currently living in a 3 bed, 1 bath apartment in the East Village. One of our roommates will be moving out in late June / early July, and we are therefore looking for a third person to take their room.

The available room is a true bedroom with its own closet. It is in a walk-up building (second floor) with in-building laundry and a rooftop deck. Kitchen (all stainless steeel appliances) and bathroom were recently renovated within the last year. The apartment looks across from a school and small park and is quiet on both the weeknights and weekends. The apartment is a ~3 minute walk from the L, ~12 minute walk from Union Square, and ~3 minute walk to Trader Joe’s and Target.

Ideally, the third roommate would be a recent graduate (graduated within the last 0-2 years), clean, and willing to help out with general apartment up keep (monthly cleaning, taking out the trash, etc.). We both work in finance (HF and IB) and are consequently not at home for most of the weekdays, so if you work from home that wouldn’t be an issue.

Rent would be between $1.9 - $2k per month including utilities and WiFi.

If interested, feel free to message me and we can setup a time to discuss further.
