AITA: Unethically Winning A Bakeoff

So I work at an EB without a HR department (this is important, you'll see why), so we don't have DEI programs. Our groups are pretty much all Caucasian and Asian kids.


Now I just won a bakeoff last night, singlehandedly without my MD knowing. I essentially called the CEO (who was in the same frat at Yale as my dad so I knew he was going to take me seriously), said "You see Goldman over there? Not only are they asking for more fees, look at the amount of Black and Latino kids in their group. Do you really want some kid who got into Harvard because of Affirmative Action, despite having a 3.4 GPA in high school and got an analyst seat without being asked a single technical question?".


Long story short, we got the mandate. Everyone's enthusiastic and we went for drinks.


I anonymously emailed Goldman's MD and told him that I told the CEO about the Black and Latino kids on his team. He didn't reply, but I heard that those kids got hell and were basically told to transfer to back office or leave by both HR and the senior bankers.


Am I The Asshole? Or is this standard behavior for high finance? I'm probably going to make VP soon as a result of my shenanigans here which got us a 17 billion deal.
