America's super rich prepare for a possible doomsday

Monkeys, was going through this article which seems to be straight out of a sci-fi movie on the new yorker which spoke about the preparations the rich guys were making in case of an apocalypse. It seems like the movie '2012' all again.

In private Facebook groups, wealthy survivalists swap tips on gas masks, bunkers, and locations safe from the effects of climate change. One member, the head of an investment firm, told me, “I keep a helicopter gassed up all the time, and I have an underground bunker with an air-filtration system.”

Can these guys be serious?

Yes. Dead serious. You'd be surprised by the mass of people from all walks of life, who have started similar apocalypse prep. The Guns, Grubs and Gold club is real.

I'm talking about liquid. Rich enough to have your own jet. Rich enough not to waste time. Fifty, a hundred million dollars, buddy. A player. Or nothing. See my Blog & AMA

I don't think this is surprising at all. Dooms day prepers aren't just limited to hillbillies in the sticks. Those are just the ones on TV because the rich are already rich and don't need the money or want the exposure from a TV show. The rich can also afford to act on their dooms day beliefs and can do so in a much larger fashion (e.g. buying a bunker vs. some hillbilly in the sticks buying 50 cans of food).
