AN1 Rent in NYC
Incoming analyst starting in July with $110,00 base. Looking to get a June 1 lease. Is 2k a month too much? Planning to split a 2 bedroom with a friend in Murray Hill. I know some of my other friends are paying $1,500-1,700 a month with more roommates. I’m a pretty agressive saver and worried 2k is a bit high.
I’m spending 2750/month as incoming analyst. Figured if I’m going to be working this much might as well splurge on a nice place that I can enjoy going back home to. Don’t even know what else I would be splurging on.
your budget seems reasonable given you wish to save, but to each their own.
I was expecting to come into this thread and see 3k or 4k. Not 2k. Come on. You are making 55x your monthly rent… you’re fine.
Where in gods name are you getting a 2br in NYC for $2k each?!?!
In the process of moving to NY myself, and on that budget it looks like I'd only be able to afford half a Mars bar...
I’ve found a few in turtle bay/kips bay/murray hill. They’re pretty small, all walk-ups and have no frills kitchens/baths. There are also quite a few in the east village but that’s a farther trek from midtown if that’s where your office is.
Spending roughly 3k (living alone, great location), but market is absurd so no clue how you're citing people going 2k assuming its 1. in Manhattan and 2. liveable...
Wanted to hear thoughts - is $4k too much? For context joining an EB with $120k base ~$60-80k bonus, and I don't have many expenses outside of rent and food tbh
