Another Fantasy Football Topic/Dilemma?

WSO - I have a ton of questions which are finance related and I am in the process of trying to get a job in the industry in NYC, but I love sports and like many of you here I love Football. I apologize for my last few posts being related to fantasy football, seeking advice, and more fantasy football but I definitely try to add value on discussions where I can rather than simply "using" the forum.

Fantasy football is the bomb - I wish I could say I was employed and was in a super competitive, winner take all type of office league but I am not. Just a league with a bunch of college friends.

I have been dealing with a real circus at the QB position --> My two QBs that I drafted were Cam Newton (stole him in the 2nd or 3rd round), and Ben Roethlisberger who I quickly plastic-bagged and found a ditch for.

I left the draft about a round early, and was fortunate (Or so I thought at the time), to have gotten Mike Vick through auto-pick. Of course, I started Cam Newton in the first week or two, and Mike Vick had his best numbers early on. I decided to throw Killa Cam the keys to the car for the last few weeks and this guy has really laid an egg in all but one week for me.

The pair has been the epitome of inconsistency and really has me aggravated. I could probably pick up a "value" QB through trade or free-agency, being that I have a lot of player capital to throw around with a very deep lineup.

I'm 6-1 and have an absolute slew of receivers which works well in my PPR league, but I wanted to see what everyone on WSO had to say about the duration of my season and how to approach the QB position.

This week, especially, is giving me a headache because Vick is coming off of injury (and will start because of Foles' concucssion, I THINK). Killa Cam and Vick both have favorable matchups, projected for 16 & 22, respecitvely but I have absolutely no faith that Vick will even make it to the stadium without tearing his hamstring, let along eclipsing 15 points.

TLDR: Killa Cam Newton and Mike "The Dog Whisperer" Vick....Who do I start this week, and why?

Thanks !

I would take Vick in a heartbeat if he was 100%. He's not and the strain is in his hammy so I'd leave him on the bench. He could still do well, he had 11 pts on the board before he pulled it in their last game vs the Giants. I wouldn't take the risk there.

Except for this last week, the Giants' secondary has consistently been shit on by QBs. Tampa Bay's secondary just had a couple shit games, but they got a few players back from injuries now. Also, Vick at home and Cam is away.

I have Newton in since Rodgers is on Bye, but I'm seriously considering a Vick pickup (dropped him week 4). Honestly, I can't give you a straight answer here. I'll be thinking about a move Friday night lol

D M - It's definitely a tough call. Agree with you on the Giants defense, its been a real embarrassment especially in the secondary. So if it weren't for Vick's injury and the risk there, I'd be letting him spin.

Game day is a ways away so we will see...might test the trading block with some of my receivers for a more reliable QB

Yea I'm definitely leaning towards Cam despite his inconsistencies. There are 10 teams in my league and it is a PPR (point per reception) league.Right now here is a quick look at my roster...

QBs: Vick, Cam Newton

RBs: Marshawn Lynch, Darren McFadden, Danny Woodhead, Joseph Randle

WRs: Brandon Marshall (bye week), Vincent Jackson, Jordy Nelson, Justin Blackmon, Tavon Austin, T.Y. Hilton

TEs: Jordan Cameron, Vernon Davis

Defense: Panthers

Kicker: Dan Bailey (Dallas)

  • I'm considering playing both Jordan Cameron and Vernon Davis with one in the FLEX position because Marshall has the Bye Week

Pretty sweet set of WRs. Shame about Tavon Austin, especially now that Bradford is out.

I'm still really angry about playing against Vernon Davis two weeks ago. Although not as angry about Doug Martin. #8 pick, was planning to get Megatron, saw Martin had dropped down and picked him instead. Epic fail... (standard scoring league)

Who is on FA in your league? I know that Dalton is owned in about 35% of ESPN Leagues (their numbers suck, but just for reference) and he has been slinging lately (admittedly @BUF and @DET is not the strongest), although he has a tough matchup this week against NYJ.

This to all my hatin' folks seeing me getting guac right now..

Dalton is a no go in my league, someone picked him up. Best options for the FA market in my league are Carson Palmer and Roethlisberger. Right now I don't think there is enough value in FA (in my league) that would warrant dropping one of my QBs or even other players for either Palmer or Roethlisberger

In that case I might as let Cam Newton drive. To reiterate, I don't think Vick is healthy enough and I have a feeling that the Giants are going to outperform everyone's expectations in the back half of their schedule. Even if Vick plays "well" I don't see having more points than newton.
