Has dopamine got us hooked on tech?

Silicon Valley is keen to exploit the brain chemical credited with keeping us tapping on apps and social media

Definitely get a rush from food, esp coming off a diet.

Also from p0rn if I haven't watched it for extended amounts of time.

The scary thing for me is that social media doesn't really give a big rush like the aforementioned things, but it definitely slightly elevates dopamine levels which sort of sets a new "baseline" which in turn makes everything else less rewarding.

In response to op yeah I'm aware. I generally eat healthy and workout 5-6 times a week so my general hormones like test, serotonin are generally good. Can definitely feel the rush when binging on high dopamine activities like gaming. If I binge too hard I also feel like it suppresses my 'typeA' impatient/pushy side.

I think in the modern world people have become accustomed to a far higher level of dopamine stimulation. Hard to say what the real impacts are though.

What is getting mind? It’s like getting head while driving?
