Attrition

Was just informed that a vice president that I work with closely is moving on after 8 years at the firm and I’m pretty bummed out. I’ve really enjoyed working with this individual for the short time I’ve been at my job. I started last year as a college graduate and she has been the first person to tell me I had a bright future in this field.

Curious to hear how you guys react and keep moving forward when a close colleague leaves. Any gifts/personal touches I could give her that are appropriate before her last day?

Go to lunch or dinner, depending on your professional relationship, before she leaves. Stay in touch. You don’t need to give a gift unless there’s some funny inside joke.
